Weekend Wrap-Up Recap: 7.30.12

It’s the conclusion of the weekend which can only mean one thing- Monday is here in all it’s glory! This weekend was pretty eventful but ironically I didn’t take as many pictures of the events as I normally do. I think I’m actually trying to be more social in person instead of looking like the fashionably uninterested blogger who could care less about the activities around them rather than being glued to their phone. Talk about trying to break old habits! eekkk. However I have some exciting things in the works so I will make sure to document them with photos.

Last week I facilitated a workshop for an organization for Fashion Week of Rochester. I’m sure many of you have observed that with the explosion of fashion events and interests, cities have organized fashion shows to mirror the events at the original fashion weeks including Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week etc.So the workshop was awesome and I spoke about the importance of branding in social media and strategies that can be used to mobilize your company. Hopefully sometime soon I can compile my notes and share them with the budding bloggers of the world.

Below is my look from Friday that I absolutely adore! I bought this orange wool skirt suit from the thrift store for about $15 and often break them up by pairing them with different pieces. Here’s how I paired the skirt: Orange Vintage. I just can’t get over the over-sized blazer! I simplified it with a stone washed skinny denim, a white tee and snake skinned sandals.

I even threw on a turban with my Guess glasses later on in the day. I often use a lot of remnant pieces from previous sewing projects to make my turban. Look out for the tutorial that I will be doing to learn how to spot the perfect fabrics for turbans!
