An Italian Dinner Party Look

Today’s the day to reveal a project that’s been well in the making with my newest blogger buddies, Louise and Amelia of Knight and Day Events! The coLAB (pretty much blogger jargon for blogger collaboration) all started back in June when Latina Bloggers ConnectAlt Summit and Blogalicious teamed up to cross connect three unique communities. I remember being excited and on edge at the same time.  What if my partners didn’t respond? What if we couldn’t agree on a project? What if they read my blog and didn’t think we were compatible? What if, what if, what if… Thankfully the collaboration was a positive experience and a great opportunity to brainstorm with creative individuals.

After identifying that we all loved travel, food and great place settings, we agreed to draw inspiration from Italian cuisine and fashion. The three of us got to work and researched our favorite aspects of Italian culture and added it to our Pinterest board. italian inspo

Using the Dolce & Gabbana 2015 fall collection as my source of inspiration, I meticulously took note of the explicit use of blooming roses, embroidered dresses, laser cut details and the use of textures. The subtle details of the line inspired me to create a dinner party outfit to attend an Italian style event. Here are a few key details for the perfect Italian dinner outfit:

Play with textures: have fun by mixing romantic layers of sheer and when in doubt, add lace!

Keep hair, jewelry and make-up to a minimum while using floral head pieces as your statement accessory. A classic center part and ponytail is a simple hairstyle to achieve a ‘no fuss’ look.

Remember to incorporate a dangerously red lip. Whether it’s matte or gloss, a red lip is perfect for every skin colour and will make your teeth look incredibly whiter.

Wear the outfit with confidence and don’t let it consume you. If it doesn’t fit your style, swap out a few pieces and try again. A slim pant works just as well so don’t be afraid to experiment!

You may not have plans to book a plane ticket to Florence or Milan anytime soon however you can achieve this designer look using budget friendly pieces and by following my style suggestions. Make sure to show some love and read Louise and Amelia’s Italian themed dinner post and special recipe from Knight & Day! Ciao!
